3 Things An Effective Leader MUST Do

1. Establish trust

When you’re leading others, it’s crucial that there be a certain level of trust between all parties. This means that not only should you trust those that you are leading, but that they need to trust you in return. Understandably, this is not necessarily an easy task. However it can be achieved through smarter hiring, focused training, and active involvement on all levels. Once this trust is established, there will be definite and noticeable improvement across the board in regards to workflow, productivity, and teamwork. Without that trust, on the other hand, these very same facets of your team will most certainly suffer.

2. Be confident

No one expects you to be flawless or know the best solution to everything at all times. However, if you regularly appear to waver in your level of confidence then it will become more and more difficult for others to trust your judgement. No one wants a scattered leader, so make sure that you are doing your research, staying present in the happenings of your team, and striving to make the best decisions.

3. Inspire for greatness

It’s impossible to consider anyone a great leader without a truly great team behind them. It’s also not enough to just be “enough.” Sure, you can do your job and do it well, but to be a great leader you must consistently go even beyond “good enough.” As a great leader, it’s important that you always be actively inspiring your team to continue to grow both together as a team and on an individual basis. If you can inspire a team to work beyond “good enough” and achieve something that is much bigger than themselves, then you too can achieve greatness.
